The Linux communities will rejoice, Dell provides support for open-source community and infused their two latest products in next several periods with Ubuntu as the operating system. Dell has chosen Ubuntu 8.04 (AKA Hardy Heron) as selected Linux distribution.
For August later in the event Linux World Expo, the consumer can get a Dell XPS M1530 laptop and Studio 15n that have been installed Ubuntu. While other models from Dell, which will use this Open Source OS are XPS M1330n and the Inspiron 1525n for laptop category and Inspiron 530n for desktop computers.
The company through the Direct2Dell blog said they spent more time this month to develop and perform tests to provide more software support for the OS (operating system). It includes drivers for ATI Video Graphics, Dell Wireless, Fingerprint Reader, HDMI, Bluetooth and support for MP3/WMA/WMV.
Dell also said this is a big step for Linux to be more acceptable in the market with the added ability to select a different language when running first time booting of computer.
This indicates it will not problem again for making sales in almost every country. And this latest Dell system is temporary still can be obtained in U.S., UK, Canada, France, Germany, Spain, and in some parts of Latin America. And for other countries will be obtained as soon as possible
